Wild Journeys - West Highland Way 2026

A three day, guided multi day ultra running challenge along the West Highland Way in Scotland, taking place 9 to 12 June 2026. The itinerary covers approximately 96 miles (154 km) with about 4,312 m elevation gain. Participants stay in different accommodation each night and travel as a small group.

Distances per day:

  • 34 miles | 54 km, Milngavie to Inversnaid
  • 26 miles | 42 km, Inversnaid to Bridge of Orchy
  • 36 miles | 58 km, Bridge of Orchy to Fort William

Day 1 follows loch banks, climbs Conic Hill and finishes at Inversnaid Bunkhouse. Day 2 moves through glens and mountains to Bridge of Orchy. Day 3 crosses a remote wilderness, passes Buachaille Etive Mor and Glen Coe, ascends the Devil’s Staircase to about 550 m, then descends through forests to Fort William, with views towards Ben Nevis.

Included: mixed shared-room accommodation, luggage transfers between stages, coaching and trail leadership by a qualified mountain leader and trail running coach, photos and video, and entry to one preparatory guided ultra run. Not included: trail snacks and meals, travel, travel insurance, and taxi or public transport if skipping a day.

Entry criteria require sustained running ability at roughly 10 min per mile (6:15 min per km) on undulating trail and a recent ultra-distance run of 31 miles | 50 km or further within six months, or equivalent mountain race experience.
