OUTrun : Glasgow FrontRunners

OUTrun is a five mile race around Kelvingrove Park, organised by Glasgow FrontRunners and described as Scotland’s largest LGBTQIA+ race. The 2026 event is sold out and takes place on 22 Aug 2026 at Kelvingrove Bandstand and Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow.

The event is open to anyone aged 18 and over. Entrants commonly include members of other FrontRunner clubs and local running clubs. Transgender runners may compete in the gender category with which they identify; the organiser can provide further information on this policy on request.

Entry includes an officially measured and insured five mile race with electronic chip timing and online results. The event provides a pre-race warm-up, a bag drop for a single bag, a bagpiper to accompany runners to the start, and on-course musical support. Finishers receive an OUTrun t-shirt if the entry meets the t-shirt deadline, and post-race refreshments typically include water and a banana. There is also a charity cake sale tent and a coffee van, and a prize ceremony with a BSL interpreter on stage during briefings, warm-up and the ceremony.

The course consists of a loop around Kelvingrove Park, an out-and-back section along the River Kelvin, and a final loop around Kelvingrove Park.

Prizes are awarded across categories for senior and veteran men, women, and non-binary runners, plus fastest FrontRunner awards. The event is classed as competitive with a significant social and recreational purpose; prizes are of token value and are not cash.

OUTrun supports Time for Inclusive Education (TIE). The charity works with schools to embed LGBT themes into ordinary teaching and learning to address stereotypes, prejudice and bullying. The post-race bake sale donates 100 percent of proceeds to the charity, accepts cash or card, and entrants may add a donation to their race entry.
