Ochil 2000s

Ochil 2000s is a long hill race held on Sat 22-Aug-26. The route covers 33 km with approximately 1770 m of ascent. The advertised start location is Glen Sherrup carpark in Glen Devon and the finish and registration are at Stirling University, with registration and changing at the Gannochy Sports Centre. A bus will transport runners to the start.

Only two short sections of the route are marked: from the start onto the open ground below Innerdownie and from the gate at the entrance to Yellow Craig woods back to the university. Controls use orienteering style kites and SI dibbers; controls or marshals are placed on each of the 2000 foot plus peaks in the Ochils and additionally on Colsnaur Hill and Dumyat. There are six marshals on the hills, and runners must follow marked crossing points where deer fences exist or face disqualification.

Mandatory kit includes a map, whistle, compass, full waterproof body cover, hat and gloves; a mobile phone is recommended. Landranger sheets 58 and 57, Explorer sheet 366 and Harvey Maps Ochil Hills are listed for navigation. Pre entries open from 11 July via SiEntries and entries close Thu 20-Aug-26; day entries are limited by coach space. A lost dibber incurs a £30 charge. The finish route has been adjusted to follow the track at the edge of Hermitage Woods into the university grounds and will be marked.
