Ochil 2000s

The Ochil 2000s is a long-distance hill race spanning a point-to-point route from Glen Devon to Stirling. The course takes participants across the high peaks of the Ochil Hills, featuring significant elevation gain over a technical landscape.

The event offers the following distance:

  • 33 km with 1770 m of ascent

The race begins at the Glen Sherrup car park in Glen Devon and concludes at Stirling University. Registration and the finish area are located at the Gannochy Sports Centre. A bus transport service is provided to move participants from the university registration point to the race start.

The route is largely unmarked, requiring runners to navigate between specified checkpoints. Fixed controls or marshals are positioned at various peaks, including Innerdownie, Whitewisp Hill, Tarmangie Hill, Kings Seat Hill, Andrew Gannel Hill, The Law, Ben Cleuch, Ben Buck, Ben Ever, Blairdennon Hill, Colsnaur Hill, and Dumyat. Participants must use an electronic timing dibber at each of the 13 controls.

Specific safety rules apply, including a strict requirement to use marked crossing points when encountering deer fences; climbing over these fences results in disqualification. Mandatory equipment includes a map, whistle, compass, full waterproof body cover, hat, and gloves. Cut-off times are enforced at Kings Seat Hill and Ben Buck.

Changing facilities are available at the Gannochy Sports Centre. While pre-entry is managed online, limited entry on the day may be available depending on coach capacity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
