About the race
Whiteface Mountain Races is a trail event held in Wilmington, NY on May 22, 2027, organized by Red Newt Racing. It offers a one-loop half marathon and a two-loop marathon SkyRace that use Whiteface Alpine Resort terrain and the neighboring Wilmington Wild Forest mountain bike trails. The course mixes dirt and gravel utility roads, grassy ski slopes, hummocky alpine terrain, and flowy singletrack. Snow and muddy patches are likely in upper elevations.
Each loop combines roughly 7 miles on the alpine side with about 5,000 feet of elevation gain and loss, followed by about 6 miles of rolling MTB trails adding roughly 1,000 feet, for just under 6,000 feet of elevation change per loop. Entry includes race entry, a tee shirt, a finisher item, and some post-race fuel. Poles are permitted; participants are asked to avoid injuring others when using them. Registration opens October 15, 2026.
The organizer does not offer refunds, but registrations can be rolled if the organizer is notified no later than May 1st; no refunds are available after that date. Registration closes midweek before the race and there is no race day registration. The event also lists local athlete led group runs on a Sunday, with groups limited to 10 and runs planned to last about 2 to 4 hours. Participants should bring hydration, nutrition, a wind or waterproof jacket, a headlamp, and a way to carry these items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
