Event Overview
The Mother's Day 10K is a new off-road running event taking place on the Adirondack Rail Trail in Lake Placid on Saturday, May 9, 2026. It features two race distances starting and finishing at Bike Lake Placid (455 Old Military Rd). A post-race celebration includes food, drink, music, and awards.
Course and Format
The event consists of out-and-back courses on the trail. The 10K race starts the event, followed by a separate 5K event that is stroller and pet-friendly. This shorter event is limited in the number of entrants to reduce trail congestion. Wave starts may be used for all fields to accommodate other trail users.
Sustainability and Logistics
The race features a cup-less aid station at the finish line and one on-course aid station located at the turnaround on the Ray Brook straightaway. Runners are encouraged to bring their own vessel for water to reduce waste. Parking is provided at the Lake Placid Firehouse lot, with ADA parking available at the start.
Additional Events and Community Impact
The stroller and pet-friendly 5K allows dogs and cats on a non-retractable leash, with a rule that children under 13 are not permitted to run with a dog. A portion of the event's proceeds is donated to the Adirondack Rail Trail Association and the Tri Lakes Humane Society.
