White Mountains Triathlon
The White Mountains Triathlon takes place at Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire. This event is a USAT sanctioned competition and serves as the 2026 USAT NH State Triathlon Championships, providing qualification opportunities for the Olympic-distance and Sprint Age Group National Championships.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Sprint: Features a 0.25 mile swim, a 13.2 mile bike ride, and a 3.2 mile run.
- Olympic: Consists of a 1500 meter swim, a 40 km bike ride, and a 6.1 mile run.
- Half: Includes a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and an 11.8 mile run.
The swim portion is conducted in Echo Lake, where water temperatures typically require the use of wetsuits. The bike courses involve descents of up to 10% and a "King of the Mountain" climbing segment on Route 141. The run courses utilize paved recreation trails within the state park, passing landmarks such as the Cannon Mountain Tramway.
The event features a beach-front finish at Echo Lake Beach. On-site amenities include a transition area, aid stations providing water and electrolytes, and a post-race BBQ. Athletes must present a photo ID and proof of USAT membership at packet pick-up. Parking is located at the Cannon Mountain Ski lots, with specific access restrictions in place during the competition.
