Event Overview
The White Light Mile is a road mile event held at dusk in downtown Fremont, Nebraska. It is the 2025 USATF Nebraska Road Mile Championship. The event is in its eighth year.
Race Distances & Schedule
The event includes a competitive road mile and a non-competitive half-mile family fun run.
- Family Fun Run: A half-mile run starting at 6:00 PM.
- Competitive Mile: Multiple waves start every 8-12 minutes beginning at approximately 6:10 PM.
- Elite Race: The night concludes with elite men's and women's waves.
Course & Venue
The certified course is a flat, two-loop route through historic downtown Fremont. The route passes buildings lined with white lights, echoing Fremont's historic "White Light City" nickname. The start and finish line is at Five-O-Five Brewing Company on N Main St. The two-loop design includes cheer stations and entertainment along the course.
Awards & Prizes
Prize money is available. Overall winners and age group winners are recognized. Specific challenges include the "4 for 4 Challenge" for men (a $400 bonus for the overall male winner who also breaks 4 minutes) and the "5 for 5 Challenge" for women (a $500 bonus for the overall female winner who also breaks 5 minutes). To be eligible for prize money, participants must be USATF members. Age group awards are given for:
- 14 & under
- 15-19
- 20-29
- 30-39
- 40-49
- 50-59
- 60+
Overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Awards are announced at approximately 7:45 PM.
Registration & Logistics
All participants receive a swag bag and a ticket for post-race food. Packet pickup is available the evening before at the brewery or on race day at the same location beginning at 4:00 PM. The race uses chip timing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
