Westonbirt Arboretum Summer
The Westonbirt Arboretum Summer races take place within the grounds of the National Arboretum in Tetbury. The venue is home to over 2,500 species of trees, including five national collections and rare specimens from around the world. The course transitions through various areas dedicated to specific tree species, offering a varied landscape for participants.
The event features several distances over two days:
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The terrain consists primarily of solid stone forest paths, providing a firm surface similar to a road while maintaining the setting of a trail run. The routes are mostly flat with minor elevation changes and are marked with distance indicators and marshals. For the Half Marathon, there are three feast stations providing water, electrolytes, and various snacks including gluten-free and vegan options. The 10 km route includes one feast station, while the 5 km distance does not have a drinks station on the course.
Participants are released in waves of approximately 150 runners to ensure sufficient space on the paths. Age requirements vary by distance: participants must be at least 17 for the Half Marathon, 14 for the 10 km, and 12 for the 5 km. There is no minimum age for the fun run. The event provides a bag drop and on-site toilets, though no changing rooms are available. The routes are suitable for buggy runners, but the event is not open to canicross.
All finishers of the 5 km and longer distances receive a double-sided medal and access to a post-race buffet. Prizes are awarded across various age categories based on the number of finishers in each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
