Sri Chinmoy SBR-Mini Duathlon - Tockington
The Sri Chinmoy SBR-Mini Duathlon is a multisport event held at Tockington Manor School near Bristol. Part of the British Triathlon Swim-Bike-Run-MINI initiative, these races are designed for those practicing for triathlons or individuals interested in combining two sports. The event maintains an entry limit of 80 participants to ensure an uncrowded course and a beginner-friendly environment.
Participants can choose from two different distance options held simultaneously on the same course:
- 3 km Run - 10 km Bike - 1 km Run
- 1 km Run - 5 km Bike - 1 km Run
The initial run takes place on the school sports field and consists of either two or five laps. The course is flattish and entirely on grass. After the first run, athletes enter a transition area near the Pavilion before starting the cycling leg.
The bike course is a 5 km loop on predominantly flat rural lanes around Tockington and Awkley. Depending on the chosen distance, participants complete either one or two laps. The route features some slopes near bridges but no significant climbs. Cyclists must follow the highway code, as roads remain open to traffic. Drafting or bunch riding is not permitted. Any roadworthy bicycle is acceptable, including mountain bikes, hybrids, and tourers; e-bikes are allowed if the battery is removed for the duration of the race.
The final leg is a 1 km run around the sports field, completed in the opposite direction of the first run. The event provides basic facilities including toilets in the Pavilion, first aid staff, and a sweep vehicle with a bike mechanic. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
