Chippenham Half Marathon
The Chippenham Half Marathon is a predominantly flat, accurately measured half marathon that starts and finishes at Chippenham Sports Club, adjacent to Chippenham Town Football ground. The route runs through the centre of the market town of Chippenham and continues through the villages and hamlets of Tytherton Lucas, East Tytherton, Avon, Kellaways and Langley Burrell, before returning to town with a downhill finish into the sports club cricket pavilion.
The race day programme includes registration, a pre-race warm-up, a walk to the start and a prize giving. Headphones are not permitted, including bone-conducting types. Road closures operate at the start and on sections as runners return towards the finish; affected streets are reopened as soon as it is safe and warning signs are placed in advance. The event reports distributing £12,000 to local charities in 2025. Chippenham is about 4 miles south of the M4 and is accessible via the A4, A420 and B4069; the main line rail route from London Paddington stops at Chippenham with at least hourly trains, and national coach and local bus services also serve the town.
