West Yorkshire Winter League (WYWL) 2026-27
The West Yorkshire Winter League is a team and individual trail competition held over six races in West Yorkshire from November to January. A season pass priced at £20 grants entry to all six races; entries close on 25/10/2026. The league is open only to fully paid-up, affiliated members of the 17 member clubs, age 17 and over, and competitors must be affiliated to England Athletics or British Triathlon. Entry on the day is not available and there are no refunds, deferrals or transfers; changing clubs after registration is not permitted.
Race courses are single-lap trail routes of about 5 - 6 miles and are described as hilly and running over challenging terrain. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and uses chip timing introduced in 2024/25. The races are not suitable for wheelchairs or visually impaired runners; dogs are not allowed and headphones must be used in line with England Athletics guidelines. Entry is limited to 1000 places.
Individual awards include Top 3 male and female finishers plus Top 3 in open, 35, 40 and every five-year age category; a competitor cannot win more than one award and the Top 3 male or female takes priority. Team awards are presented for male, female, vets (35+), super vets (50+) and overall teams. Competitors who start at least four of the six races receive a complimentary buff.
Member clubs include Baildon Runners, Bramley Breezers, Craven Energy, Crossgates Harriers, Dewsbury RR, Idle AC, Leeds & Bradford Tri, Methley Striders, Northowram Pumas, Pudsey Pacers, Queensbury RC, Skipton AC, South Leeds Lakers, Stadium Runners, Stainland Lions, Todmorden Harriers and Slaithwaite Striders.
