About the race
The West Rouge Sports & Recreation Association Fun Run takes place at Port Union Waterfront Park in Chesterton Shores, Scarborough, ON. The event offers multiple course options and uses the Waterfront Trail and Highland Creek trail.
The course starts at Port Union Waterfront Park, heads west along the Waterfront Trail, crosses the Waterfront Trail Bridge, then turns north to follow the Highland Creek trail. At 2.5 km the course turns around and returns to the start line. The 10 km option completes the initial out-and-back and then repeats the west-and-north loop before returning to the start. Due to construction on the trail, the race will not run east toward Rouge Beach.
Distances:
- 10 km Run
- 5 km Run
- 5 km Walk
There are two water stations on course: one at the start/finish and one at the 2.5 km turnaround. Ten-kilometre participants pass both stations twice.
Free parking is available at the Rouge Hill GO station west parking lot near Port Union Road, a short walk from the start. Washrooms are available in Port Union Village Commons Park.
Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female in each age category for each event, with at least 18 prizes available. Depending on participation, prizes may also be awarded for special participant categories. Participants who provide an e-mail address will receive a personalized certificate indicating standing or participation, gender and age group.
The event is held rain or shine. If the event is cancelled, no refunds will be given and registrations are non-transferrable and non-deferrable. Registration windows include early, regular and late periods with specified date ranges. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
