West Highland Way Race

The West Highland Way Race follows the long-distance trail between Milngavie, just north of Glasgow, and Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The race first took place in 1985 and has been held regularly since then. The 40th running took place in 2026 and the 41st edition is scheduled for 19 June 2027. Entries open 1 October 2026 for the 41st edition and the ballot registration period for 2027 is open from 1 October 2026 until 14 October 2026; ballot results are announced before the end of October.

Entry is limited to 300 runners each year. Organisers publish practical information for participants, including race rules, medical guidance, checkpoints, toilets, map and GPX files, volunteer information, and race history. The list of checkpoint locations is maintained and small adjustments to cut-offs have been made in recent updates.

Live race results are available through SI Entries. The event holds a race licence issued by Scottish Athletics. Information and updates are also shared on social media channels linked to the race.
