Event overview

The West Highland Way Race is an ultramarathon held over the West Highland Way route from Milngavie Railway Station to the Nevis Centre in Fort William. The course distance is 96 miles with 14,760 ft of ascent. Competitors must complete the route within a time limit of 35 hours. Runners are required to pass through checkpoints on the route within specified time limits.

Entry and participation requirements

Entries opened on 1 November 2025 and closed on 30 November 2025. Entry fees were listed as £157 for affiliated members and £160 for unaffiliated entrants. Entry lists showed 297 participants and 341 pre-selection entries. Participants must be aged 20 years or older on race day and must have completed a minimum of a 65K trail race. Each competitor is required to have their own motorised support team backup.

Course records and bonus
