Ultra Marathon Details
The West Highland Way Race is a long distance running event following the West Highland Way route. The course covers a total distance of 96 miles and features 14,760 feet of total ascent. The race begins at Milngavie Railway Station, located seven miles north of Glasgow, and concludes at the Nevis Centre in Fort William.
Participants are required to navigate the route by running, jogging, or walking while remaining within a 35 hour time limit. Along the course, runners must pass through established checkpoints within specific time limits to remain in the competition.
Requirements and Logistics
Registration for this event is subject to specific criteria. Potential participants must be 20 years of age or older on race day. Adequate relevant experience is mandatory for entry, which includes the completion of a trail race of at least 65 km.
In addition to physical preparation, every runner is required to provide their own motorized support team for backup throughout the duration of the event.
