Washington Coalfields Duathlon
The Washington Coalfields Duathlon is a non drafting sprint duathlon held on the Nissan Test Track at Nissan Motor Manufacturing in Sunderland. The event is staged on a closed, traffic free circuit. A permit is in progress and is being reviewed by British Triathlon.
The race format comprises a first run, a bike stage, and a finishing run. Course layout details:
- 5 km run
- 20 km bike
- 1.7 km run
Run sections are on undulating terrain with a mixture of surfaces. The bike stage is flat and on tarmac. Run 1 consists of one full lap of the track followed by two shorter laps on the inside track. The cycle stage is seven laps of the track. Run 2 is two short laps of the inside track.
Entry is by online registration. Expected competitor number is 150. Entry closes 21/09/2026 at 18:00 and the entry fee is £42.00. The event features accessible parking, aid stations, changing facilities, chip timing, parking, prizes, published results, showers, toilets, and traffic free course management.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three open and top three female finishers. The organiser policy states no refunds, with deferral requests accepted up to 14 days before the event subject to a similar event being organised in 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
