Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate
Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate is a winter road and trail event held at Derwent Haugh Country Park, Swalwell, Gateshead on 13th December 2026. The course uses paved footpaths and tracks within the park and is described as mostly flat and traffic free.

- 5K one lap of the park
- 10K two laps of the park
The race starts and finishes near the Swalwell Visitor Centre. Race HQ and registration are located close to the visitor centre and parking is provided at Blaydon Rugby Club a short walk from the HQ. The event uses chip timing and distance markers are placed every kilometre. Water is available at the finish for the 5K and at 5 km and the finish for the 10K. Bag drop, toilets and refreshments are located at Race HQ and Blaydon RFC.
Entries are limited and have separate affiliated and unaffiliated fees. Entries close on 7th December 2026. Minimum ages apply for each distance. Prizes include a finisher medal, individual awards for the top three men and women, and team prizes for the 10K where applicable. Under UK Athletics rules and for insurance reasons, in ear headphones, prams and dogs are not permitted. All finishers receive hot chocolate provided by Blaydon Rugby Club.
