Run Gateshead Hot Chocolate 10K
The event is a 10K trail race held at Derwent Haugh Country Park in Gateshead. The course uses paved footpaths and tracks within the park, is mostly flat, and comprises two loops that start and finish near the Swalwell visitor centre. Parking is available at Blaydon Rugby Club, a short walk from race headquarters.
Entries are limited to 300 and close on 7 December 2026. Entry fees differ for affiliated and unaffiliated runners. The minimum age to enter is 15. Chip timing is used and distance markers are provided every kilometre. Water stations are positioned at 5K and at the finish.
Race day facilities include registration near the Swalwell Visitor Centre, bag drop at the race HQ tent, toilets at Blaydon Rugby Club, changing facilities, and first aid. Prizes include a finisher medal, individual awards for the top three men and top three women overall, and team prizes for the first male and first female teams (three to count).
Due to UKA rules and insurance requirements, in-ear headphones, prams, and dogs are not permitted. Hot chocolate is provided at the finish by Blaydon Rugby Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
