About the race
The Warrenville Park District Firecracker 5K is the 16th annual community run and walk held on July 4 in Warrenville, Illinois. The course uses the Illinois Prairie Path, Warrenville Grove and streets of downtown Warrenville. Participants in the 5K receive a race t-shirt, a goodie bag and a finisher medal. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group and to the overall top male and female.
The event also includes a Sparkler 1 mile held after the 5K. Sparkler participants receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal. Youth dash events are offered for very young children: a 50 yard dash for ages 3 to 6 and a 100 yard dash for ages 7 to 10. Children in the dashes must sign a waiver and receive a participation ribbon.
Packet pick up is available at the Warrenville Recreation Center Upper Multipurpose Room at 3S260 Warren Avenue and at the FitnessNOW Guest Services desk in the Recreation Center during the days before the event. Registrations submitted by the event organizer deadline may receive race bibs prior to the event. The event notice states participants assume risk, must sign waiver language releasing claims, and are responsible for payment of any medical services. No strollers, bikes, or dogs are allowed on the course due to narrow paths.
