Walk/jog for the "well" of It 5K

The 16th annual Walk/jog for the "well" of It 5K is an athletic event held in Ridgely, Maryland. The event raises awareness regarding the world water crisis and collects funds to provide clean water to rural areas in Ghana and Tanzania. This local initiative combines physical fitness with a charitable cause supported by Lifetime Wells International and the Seashore Striders.

Participants can choose from multiple event formats:

  • 5K Run/Walk
  • 1 Mile Walk
  • Sleep Walker (charitable contribution)

The course is described as fast and flat, beginning at Martin Sutton Memorial Park. The 5K route follows town streets out to surrounding country roads and incorporates a paved rail trail before looping back to the finish line. The 1 Mile Walk takes place on town streets from the park to a designated turnaround point and back.

Registered participants in the physical races receive several amenities, including short-sleeve tech shirts and access to light refreshments and music at the venue. Timing services are provided for the event, with awards presented to overall male and female winners, masters, and the top three finishers in 10-year age groups ranging from 13 and under to 70 and over. Race bibs and t-shirts are distributed at the park pavilion on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
