Anderson Humane's Walk4Animals & 5K Run

Anderson Humane's Walk4Animals & 5K Run is a fundraising event in Batavia, Illinois, held at the Peg Bond Center with the course beginning and ending at the Batavia Riverwalk, 100 N. Island Avenue. The event supports Anderson Humane's care for animals; in 2024 the organization reported rescuing more than 4,000 domestic animals and more than 3,000 wild animals.

Event offerings:

  • 5K Run - a timed 5-kilometer race.
  • 1.5 Mile Walk - an untimed community walk around the Batavia Riverwalk; participants may bring dogs.

The event distinguishes the timed 5K with awards: medals are presented to the first and second place men and women in age categories that include 14 & Under, 15-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, and 65 and over. Funds raised support food, shelter, medical care, and other resources used by Anderson Humane to protect and rehabilitate animals.

The event listing also notes options for people who cannot attend in person, including walking or running locally on the same day or contributing to fundraising efforts on behalf of participants or teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
