Lowell 5K Run/Walk
The Lowell 5K Run/Walk is an annual community event hosted by the Lowell PTA in Wheaton, Illinois. The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds for the 2026 edition supporting My Half Kitchen, a local non-profit organization that provides job training and employment for women overcoming hardships. The race takes place at Lowell Elementary School.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km
The 5 km course is a timed, flat, double loop through the surrounding neighborhood. It starts and finishes on the grounds of Lowell Elementary School. While the course is timed, it is not USATF certified. All participants who finish the race receive a finisher ribbon.
The event is open to all participants and allows strollers, though these must start at the back of the pack. To maintain safety and school regulations, dogs, rollerblades, scooters, and bikes are not permitted on the course or school grounds. Post-race refreshments are provided to all participants after the event.
Awards are presented to the first-place male and female finishers in various categories, ranging from kindergarten and younger through adult age groups. Participants may also purchase a race shirt separately from the registration fee. Pre-race check-in is required to collect timing bibs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
