Race for the Gold 5K
The Race for the Gold returns to Gilberts, Illinois, featuring a course that starts and finishes at Town Center Park. This community event focuses on a single distance:
- 3.1 Miles (5K Run/Walk)
Participants follow a route beginning at the local park. All runners and walkers receive a finisher medal upon crossing the line. Timing and scoring are managed through a disposable chip attached to the back of each participant's bib. Recognition is given to the top overall male and female participants, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 8 and under to 70 and over.
The event includes a Youth Performance Zone hosted by Cross Kicks Fitness trainers, featuring speed and agility stations and athletic challenges for children. A supervised Kids Corral, staffed by Gilberts Elementary School teachers and employees, is available for children while their parents participate in the race.
Registered participants are guaranteed an event shirt, though availability is not guaranteed for those registering on the day of the race. Food and refreshments are provided on-site. All proceeds from the event are directed toward supporting local youth programs, supplies, and equipment for students at Gilberts Elementary School.
