Wadsworth Trog
Wadsworth Trog is a long Calderdale fell race that follows a mapped route requiring navigation across exposed terrain. The race distance is 19.3 miles (31 km) with approximately 3,642 ft (1,110 m) of ascent. The course includes multiple checkpoints and uses Sportident chip timing at every checkpoint.
The event is based at Wadsworth Community Centre, Billy Lane, Old Town, Hebden Bridge, HX7 8RY (Grid reference GR SD 998285, What3words ///consoles.loads.expect). Parking at the venue is very limited and car sharing is encouraged. Organisers also encourage travel by public transport and note a local bus serves Old Town from Hebden Bridge.
The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association under UKA rules and is a non GPS race for navigation purposes. Competitors may record their route with GPS devices but electronic navigation aids are not permitted except in an emergency, and using GPS navigation requires declaring as non-competitive at the finish.
FRA mandatory minimum kit is compulsory and a kit check occurs before number allocation. Required items include waterproof full body cover (waterproof jacket with integrated hood and waterproof trousers, both with taped seams), hat (not a buff), gloves, map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Due to the time of year and exposed sections, competitors are advised to carry an extra base layer. Entry is pre-entry only via SiEntries, there is a race limit of 200 and very limited entry on the day may be available. Minimum age is 18.
