About the race
Great Owl Running offers two linked races based at the Kirkstall Bridge Inn in Leeds. One is a trail race of approximately ~16 km that follows canal and riverside trails and includes the Calverley Cutting. The other is the Kirkstall Bridge 10 km, a flat, out and back canal run.
Distances:
- ~16 km trail race, elevation about 200 m
- ~10 km canal out and back, elevation about 60 m
Both courses use canal towpaths, riverside trails and public footpaths. The route will be fully marked and marshalled at key locations. Due to ongoing flood relief works along the River Aire the course may be diverted; the final route will be confirmed near the event date. A water refill station is provided for the 10 km at the turnaround point; entrants must bring their own water container because events are cupless.
The event has an entry limit of 250 and an age limit of 18 and over. Race headquarters offer toilets and bag storage. For the longer Calverley Cutter, runners must carry a windproof or waterproof jacket and suitable extra clothing. Parking at the venue is limited; there is on-street parking nearby and Headingley train station is the closest rail option, about 800 m away.
