Kirkstall Calverley Cutter & Kirkstall Bridge 10km

Great Owl Running stages two races based at the Kirkstall Bridge Inn in Leeds. One is a trail race of about sixteen kilometres that follows sections of the Leeds Liverpool Canal, runs beside the River Aire and passes through Calverley Cutting. The other is a fast, flat, out-and-back 10 km route along the canal towpath.

The courses are fully marked and marshalled at key areas, with the race start located close to the pub on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Organisers note that ongoing flood relief works along the River Aire may require a late course diversion.

Distances

  • ~16 km trail route with mixed surfaces
  • ~10 km out-and-back canal route

Additional course details: elevation is approximately 200 m for the 16 km and 60 m for the 10 km. Terrain includes canal towpath, riverside trail and public footpaths. There is a water station with cups at the turnaround point on the 10 km only.

Entry is limited to 250 runners and the minimum age is 18. Facilities at race headquarters include toilets and bag storage. Medals and t-shirts are available as optional purchases before the race, and a "Trees not Tees" donation option is offered. For the Kirkstall Calverley Cutter runners must carry a windproof or waterproof jacket and a personal water container because events are cupless.
