Kirkstall Calverley Cutter & Kirkstall Bridge 10km

Great Owl Running stages two races based at Kirkstall Bridge Inn, 12 Bridge Rd, Leeds LS5 3BW. Both courses run along the Leeds Liverpool Canal and River Aire and use canal towpaths, riverside trails and public footpaths. The route may be slightly diverted because of ongoing flood relief works on the River Aire.

Distances:

  • ~16 km Trail race via Leeds Liverpool Canal, River Aire and Calverley Cutting
  • ~10 km Fast flat out and back on the canal towpath; water at turnaround

Navigation is a fully marked course with marshals at key areas. Elevation is approximately 200 m for the 16 km race and approximately 60 m for the 10 km race. Entry is limited to 250 places and entrants must be aged 18 or over. The event is cupless; refill stations are provided but runners must bring their own water container.

Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and bag storage. For the 16 km Kirkstall Calverley Cutter, mandatory kit includes a windproof or waterproof jacket and suitable extra clothing for winter conditions. Optional extras such as medals and t-shirts can be added to entries in advance, and a Trees not Tees donation option is offered to fund tree planting.
