Event

The Kirkstall Calverley Cutter and Kirkstall Bridge 10km are organised by Great Owl Running and take place on 24 January 2026 at the Kirkstall Bridge Inn, 12 Bridge Rd, Leeds LS5 3BW. The programme comprises two distances:

  • 16 km
  • 10 km

Entrants must be 18 or older. The route follows the Leeds Liverpool Canal and the River Aire area and may be diverted if flood relief works affect the riverside paths.

Course and facilities

The course is multi-terrain, using canal towpath, riverside trail and public footpaths, with an undulating profile and approximately 200 m elevation for the longer route. The event is run as a single lap for the 16 km race. The route will be marked and marshalled at key points; runners receive a route map or description on entry. The event is cupless: water refill stations are provided but runners must bring their own water container. Cups are provided at the 10 km turnaround only. Trail shoes are advised. Mandatory gear includes a windproof or waterproof jacket and suitable warm clothing. Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and bag storage. The 16 km race is not suitable for wheelchairs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
