Kirkstall Calverley Cutter & Kirkstall Bridge 10km
Great Owl Running stages two linked races from Kirkstall Bridge Inn, 12 Bridge Rd, Leeds LS5 3BW. One event is a trail race of approximately 16 km that follows sections of the Leeds Liverpool Canal, the River Aire and passes through the Calverley Cutting. The other is the Kirkstall Bridge 10 km, a flat out and back route on the canal towpath.
Distances:
- ~16 km trail race on canal, riverside trail and public footpaths
- ~10 km canal towpath out and back
The courses are fully marked and marshalled at key points. Elevation is approximately 200 m for the 16 km route and 60 m for the 10 km. A water station with cups is provided at the turnaround point on the 10 km only. Great Owl Running events are cupless; refill stations are available but runners must bring their own water container.
Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and bag storage. Entry is limited to 250 and entrants must be 18 or older. For the 16 km event runners must carry a windproof or waterproof jacket and a personal water container. Optional extras such as medals or t-shirts can be added to entries for a limited time, and a Trees not Tees donation option is available.
Course routing may be adjusted close to the event because of flood relief works along the River Aire. The nearest train station is Headingley, about 800 m away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
