Winter Solstice Strider 2026

The Winter Solstice Strider is a night running event located at the St Ives Estate in Bingley. Held on the shortest day of the year, the event takes place in the dark on an undulating multi-terrain course. Participants can choose between different distances and formats based on the number of laps completed.

The event offers the following physical course options:

  • 5 km: A single circuit of the estate, open to runners and walkers.
  • 10 km: Two circuits of the estate for runners.

Every participant in the physical event is chip-timed. The course includes distance markers and water stations. Facilities at the race headquarters, located at STRI, include toilets, though there are no changing rooms, showers, or baggage storage areas available on-site. Participants between the ages of 6 and 17 may enter the 5 km distance if accompanied by an adult.

All finishers receive a medal for completing their distance. For those unable to attend the venue in person, a virtual option is available. This allows participants to complete a 5 km or 10 km route at a location of their choosing on the solstice. Virtual participants receive their medals via post in advance of the event date. The event is organized to support Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
