Event Overview
The Virginia Marathon takes place in Middleburg, located within Virginia's horse and wine country. Developed by Old Dominion Racing, the event features live racing through historic areas dating back to 1787. The course utilizes paved roads and some gravel sections throughout Loudoun and Fauquier counties. Participants pass scenic vistas, horse farms, and rolling countryside with shaded sections.
The start and finish lines are located at The Hill School. This location is situated near downtown Middleburg, which contains various boutiques and locally owned restaurants. For those traveling by air, the venue is approximately 30 minutes from Dulles International Airport.

The event offers several distances to accommodate different goals. The marathon and the Merikos routes involve significant elevation changes, including a section up Bull Run Mountain with a total elevation gain exceeding 3,000 feet.

Participant Logistics
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a run and walk shop in Leesburg. Alternatively, participants can collect their materials on the morning of the event at the race site at The Hill School. The course is marked by volunteers, and facilities such as portable toilets are provided along the route.
