About the race
Veterans Day Catalina State Park Trail Races take place November 8, 2026, at Catalina State Park in Tucson, Arizona. The event offers multiple distances on the park trails and roads:
- 10.6 Mile - two-loop course: Birding Trail, Canyon Loop, Romero out-and-back, Nature Trail.
- 5.3 Mile - single loop: Birding Trail, Canyon Loop, Romero out-and-back, Nature Trail.
- 5K - flat out-and-back on the park’s main roads with one water stop.
All races start and finish at the park’s main parking lot at the end of the park road. The trail courses use marked singletrack and park roads; participants are asked to follow course marshals, signs, orange ribbon, and pin flags and to avoid running in washes. Some areas of the course have traffic; the 5K requires runners to use the north coned shoulder on the park road and to finish in the left lane.
Aid and logistics details note that all participants should carry their own water. Water is available before the Nature Trail, at the finish area, and at one 5K water stop; bottles taken must be carried by the runner and not discarded on course. The event has an overall race cutoff at 10:30 AM and age-group awards for male and female overall 1st–3rd plus five-year age groups. Packet pickup is available Friday at Fleet Feet in Oro Valley and on race morning at the park. Parking passes and park entry fees apply and are available at packet pickup.
