The main distance is 5K and the course winds through the colorful, historic streets of Barrio Viejo and the Armory Park area. The event includes on-course entertainment, race support along the route, and a generous time limit.

High Heel Havoc requires participants to be 18 years or older and specifies a minimum heel height of 2 inches and a maximum heel base width of 1/2 inch. Prize packages will be awarded to some finishers, and depending on participation the event may be divided into heats.
The weekend includes additional programming such as a Kickoff Kiki at HighWire for bib pickup, drink service, and sign-making. Independently produced events across Tucson are listed under the Big Gay Weekend umbrella. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
