Big Gay 5K
The Big Gay 5K is an event held on 10/24/2026 in downtown Tucson with start and finish at Armory Park. The main course is a 3.1 mile loop that winds through the colorful, historic streets of Barrio Viejo. The 5K offers on-course entertainment, a generous time limit, and support along the route. Participants may walk, run, strut, or meander through the course, and the event includes a look contest judged by a drag queen.
After the run the event returns to Armory Park for a finish festival with music, drinks, and additional entertainment. An extended after-party takes place in the park following the festival.
The program also includes a separate novelty dash called High Heel Havoc. That dash covers about one city block, awards prize packages to both fastest finishers and those who best embrace the event spirit, and may be divided into heats depending on participation. High Heel Havoc requires participants to be 18 or older and specifies heel requirements with a minimum heel height of 2 inches and a maximum base width of 1/2 inch.
