Vernon Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot
The Vernon Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is a community 5K road event held in Sussex, New Jersey, organized by the Vernon Township Board of Recreation. The event takes place on 11/26/2026 at 68 Sandhill Rd, Sussex, NJ 07461 and is presented as a run or walk open to individuals, families, and small teams.
The event supports the Harvest House Food Pantry in Sussex. Harvest House began as the VTHS Hunger Project in 1997, operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3), and currently serves more than 50 people per day through a pickup and go system. The Turkey Trot raises funds and collects nonperishable food donations for local food pantry efforts.
Registration opens on 06/24/2026 and closes on 11/14/2026. Fee structure listed by the organizer:
- Individual registration (flying solo): $30; increases to $35 on 11/15/2026 and on the day of the event.
- Group rate (flocks of four or more): $25 per participant; increases to $30 per person on 11/15/2026 and on the day of the event.
- Children under 10: free.
Registered participants receive a race bib, a swag bag, and a race T-shirt guaranteed for paid registrants by 10/31/2026. The course includes hills and turns through a rural landscape and passes areas of local farmland. Prizes are noted for the most festive feather decorations.
