Sap Run : St. Albans Nordic (8.5 miles)

St. Albans Nordic presents the 46th annual Sap Run, a point to point road race that starts in Swanton Village and finishes in downtown St. Albans during the Vermont Maple Festival. The course follows Route 7 south for 8.5 miles and finishes in front of Taylor Park.

Registration options include online entries with a shirt or without a shirt, and day of registration available for cash or check only. Shirt requests are guaranteed for registrants who sign up by April 10; afterward shirts are distributed first come, first served. Fees increase by $5 the Wednesday before the race.

The course remains open to traffic; it typically has a wide shoulder on Sunday mornings. A lead vehicle and a tail vehicle will provide some warning to traffic, but runners are responsible for checking intersections and staying alert. There will be at least two aid stations, near 3.5 and 5.5 miles, offering water, a sports drink, and shots of pure maple syrup.

Logistics include a bus to transport runners from St. Albans to the Swanton start before the race and morning registration at the Swanton Public Library. Three portable toilets will be available at the start and additional facilities at the finish. Warm up clothing may be collected at the start and transported to the finish. Maple syrup awards will be presented to age group winners. Team scoring is based on age group placings, with only the top four scores per team counted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
