Vermont Maple Festival Sap Run 8.5 Mile

The Sap Run is a point to point road race in its 47th edition that starts in Swanton Village and finishes on Main Street in downtown St. Albans, ending in front of Taylor Park in the Vermont Maple Festival area. The distance is 8.5 miles and the course follows the traditional route south on Route 7.

The event is part of the Franklin County Triple Crown, which also includes the Milk Run in Enosburg and the Egg Run in Fairfax. Runners who complete all three races are eligible for raffle prizes awarded at the Egg Run.

Registration options include online and day of. Online fees are $42 with a $37 no shirt option. Day of registration is $45 cash or check only and shirts will not be available. Pre-race bib pickup will be available at a time and location to be announced. Race day registration for both pre-registered and day-of entrants will be in Swanton Village.

Logistics and amenities: buses pick up runners in St. Albans and drop them in Swanton; bus service is available only before the race and must be requested during online registration. There will be at least two aid stations near miles 3.5 and 5.5 with water, sports drink, and shots of pure maple syrup. Port-a-lets will be at the start and finish, with possible indoor bathroom access. Bags for warm-up clothing will be transported from the start to the finish.

Team scoring uses age group placing with points awarded down the placings; the top four scorers on each team count toward the team total. Awards include maple syrup for overall winners and top three in each ten-year age group. The race course remains on an open main road with a wide shoulder; lead and tail vehicles will offer warning but runners must remain alert to traffic and intersections.
