Vermont Maple Festival Sap Run 8.5 Mile
St. Albans Nordic presents the 46th annual Sap Run, a point-to-point road race held on April 26, 2026. The course starts in the Village of Swanton and follows Route 7 south for 8.5 miles, finishing in front of Taylor Park in downtown St. Albans during the Vermont Maple Festival.
Registration options include online entry with a shirt ($40) or without a shirt ($35), with fees increasing by $5 in the days before the race. Day-of registration is listed at $45, cash or check only. A registration deadline in early April guarantees a shirt size; after that shirts are available first come, first served until supplies run out. Pre-race bib pickup and in-person registration details are to be determined; morning registration will be at the Swanton Public Library.
The course runs on a main road that will remain open; organizers will provide a lead and a tail vehicle, but participants are responsible for watching for traffic and intersections. Aid stations are planned at about 3.5 and 5.5 miles, offering water, sports drink, and shots of pure maple syrup. A bus will transport runners from a St. Albans pickup location behind city hall to Swanton before the start; there is no return bus after the finish.
Facilities include library bathrooms and port-a-lets at the start and in Taylor Park. Warm-up clothing can be dropped at the start and will be transported to the finish. Age-group awards are maple syrup; a team competition awards cash prizes based on age-group scoring, with the top four scores per team counted.
