Event
The Champlain Islands Marathon & Half Marathon takes place on October 18, 2026, in South Hero, Vermont, with the event location listed as Folsom Elementary School, 75 South Street. The event offers the following distances:

Registration is limited to a maximum of 500 runners. Runners must be age 16 or older. Current listed entry prices are $70 for the marathon and $50 for the half marathon, with GMAA member discounts of $10 off the full and $5 off the half. The event has sold out in recent years. There are no refunds, deferrals, wait lists, bib transfers, or race-day entry transfers except by the published transfer procedure.
Course and logistics
Both courses are fully paved. The half-marathon is an out-and-back route on the west shore of South Hero and Grand Isle. The full marathon is two out-and-backs of the half-marathon course. The marathon is USATF certified (VT24002JK). Terrain is described as flat to rolling. Elevation: start and finish at 190 ft, maximum 210 ft, minimum 100 ft; Lake Champlain elevation is 95 ft. Time cutoffs are 6 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half.
Aid stations are provided about every 2 miles from mile 2 through mile 24 (12 stations total), supplying water and electrolyte drink; 2-3 porta-potties are on course and sweep vehicles are available. All participants receive a race shirt; medals are given to all finishers. Awards go to top overall male, female and non-binary finishers, top masters, and top finishers in each age group. Race rules prohibit baby joggers and dogs; headphones are strongly discouraged. Packet pickup locations include SkiRack in Burlington and Folsom School.
