Champlain Islands Marathon & Half Marathon
The Champlain Islands event offers two road races held in South Hero, Vermont, with start and finish near a historic runner's house by the Lake Champlain shore. The courses run on paved roads along the west shore of South Hero and Grand Isle through farmland, apple orchards, and summer cottages. Terrain is generally flat to rolling.

The full marathon is composed of two out and back loops of the half marathon course. The course is USATF certified (VT24002JK) and marked for miles 1 through 13. Elevation ranges from about 100 to 210 feet, with start and finish near 190 feet. The event can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Support and logistics include aid stations approximately every two miles from mile 2 to mile 24 for a total of 12 stations, with water and electrolyte drink at all stations, 2 to 3 porta-potties on course, and sweep vehicles for runner assistance. Time cutoffs are six hours for the marathon and four hours for the half marathon.
Other details: participants receive a race shirt and finishers receive medals. Awards are given to top overall male, female, and non-binary finishers, top masters, and top finishers in each age group. Runners must be age 16 or older. The event limits total participants to 500 and has no refunds, deferrals, wait list, or bib transfers.
