Champlain Islands Marathon & Half Marathon
The event is scheduled for October 18, 2026, in South Hero, Vermont, with the event location listed as Folsom Elementary School. The race offers the following distances:

Entry is open to runners aged 16 and older. The field is limited to a maximum of 500 runners. Pre-registration is available and the event has sold out in recent years. GMAA members receive a small discount on entry fees.
Course, support and event policies
Both races begin and end near the house where a seven-time Boston Marathon winner once lived. The half-marathon is an out-and-back route on the west shore of South Hero and Grand Isle, with flat to rolling terrain; the full marathon is two out-and-backs of the half-marathon course. The entire course is paved and USATF certified (VT24002JK). Course elevations are listed as start/finish 190 ft, maximum 210 ft, and minimum 100 ft.
Aid stations are provided approximately every 2 miles from mile 2 through mile 24 (about 12 stations), with water and electrolyte drink at all stations, plus 2-3 porta-potties on course and sweep vehicles for assistance. Time cutoffs are 6 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half. All participants receive a race shirt and medals are awarded to all finishers. There are no refunds, deferrals, wait lists, or bib transfers. Packet pickup is available at SkiRack (Burlington) on the two days before the event and at Folsom School on the race morning.
