Event Overview
The Champlain Islands Marathon & Half Marathon takes place in South Hero, Vermont. The event starts and finishes at the Folsom Elementary School. Both distances follow a paved course that runs along the west shore of South Hero and Grand Isle. The route passes through a landscape characterized by farms, apple orchards, and summer cottages.

- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
Course Details
The terrain is described as flat to rolling. The half marathon is an out-and-back course, while the full marathon consists of two laps of the same out-and-back route. The course is USATF certified and can be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Elevations range from a minimum of 100 feet to a maximum of 210 feet.
Support and Regulations
The marathon has a strictly enforced time limit of 6 hours, while the half marathon has a limit of 4 hours. Aid stations providing water and electrolyte drinks are positioned approximately every 2 miles. A total of 12 aid stations are available on the full course.
The event is open to runners aged 16 and older. For safety reasons, the use of baby joggers or dogs is prohibited, and the use of headphones is discouraged. All finishers receive a medal and a race shirt. Registration is limited to a maximum of 500 participants across both events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
