Event overview
The Vedder Mountain Challenge is a two-day multisport trail event at Smith Falls (Westside) Campground, Cultus Lake, BC on May 30–31, 2026. The program includes single-day trail runs on Saturday and multisport races on Sunday with solo and three-person relay options. Distances offered include:
- 15 km trail run
- 35 km trail run
- 48 km solo multi-sport (SUP, off-road biking, trail running)
- 53 km relay multi-sport (stages: 6 km SUP, 32 km ride, 15 km run)
There is a mandatory pre-race briefing 15 minutes before each start.
Courses, equipment and logistics
Both run courses start and finish at Smith Falls Campground. The 15 km run has about 650 m ascent and descent. The 35 km run has about 1900 m ascent and descent and includes steep sections with some hand-rope assisted rock sections. Sunday multisport stages begin and end at Smith Falls; the SUP stage is on Cultus Lake. Bike rules allow non-motorized gravel, cyclocross or mountain bikes only; e-bikes and motors are prohibited. SUP competitors must use a single-blade paddle, wear an approved personal flotation device, use a leash, and carry a whistle. Hiking poles are not allowed. Cutoffs are published for each race (for example 5 hours for the 15 km run, 9 hours for the 35 km run, and 7.5 hours for solo and relay multisport). The event is cup-free; participants must provide their own cup for aid stations. A bag tent is available but unmonitored. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
