Valpo Police K-9 Unit 5K9 Run & 1 Mile Dog Walk
The event takes place Friday, May 15, 2026, at Central Park Plaza, 63 Lafayette Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383. It includes two event options:
- 5K run
- 1 Mile dog walk
The 5K is a road course with moderate hills. Moisture-wicking shirts are guaranteed to all preregistered participants who register before May 4, 2026.
Registration, awards and logistics
Online registration is open until 8:00 AM on May 15, 2026. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked before May 1, 2026. Race day registration fee is $35 for run and walk. Entry fees listed are $30 for the 5K or 1 Mile walk (ages 13 and over) and $25 for children 12 and under (1 Mile walk only). Early packet pick-up is available Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, at Extra Mile Fitness Co., 3400 Calumet Ave, Valparaiso. On-site packet pick-up begins the day of the event.
Computerized timing is provided by T&H Timing with split times at every mile. Water stations are available on the course. Awards include overall male/female, overall masters (age 40 and over), top three male/female in multiple age groups from 0-8 through 80+, and weight-class awards: Athena (female 170 lb and over) and Clydesdale (male 210 lb and over). No strollers, bicycles, in-line skates, or scooters are allowed; handicap equipment is permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
