The Valpo Police K-9 Unit 5K9 Run & 1 Mile Dog Walk takes place on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Central Park Plaza, 63 Lafayette Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383. The event includes these distances:
- 5K run (road course with moderate hills)
- 1 Mile dog walk
Computerized timing is provided by T&H Timing with split times at every mile. Water stations are available on the course. No strollers, bicycles, in-line skates, or scooters are allowed; handicap equipment is permitted.
Logistics and awards
Moisture-wicking shirts are guaranteed to runners and walkers who preregister before May 4, 2026. Registration fees listed in the event information are $30 for the 5K or 1 Mile walk (ages 13 and over) and $25 for children 12 and under (1 Mile walk only). Mail-in registrations must be postmarked before May 1, 2026. Race day registration fee is $35 for both run and walk.
Awards are given for Overall Male/Female and Overall Masters (age 40 and over) Male/Female, top three Male/Female in multiple age groups, and special divisions: Athena (female 170 lb or more) and Clydesdale (male 210 lb or more). Early packet pick-up is available at Extra Mile Fitness Co., 3400 Calumet Ave, Valparaiso; on-site packet pick-up is available on the day of the event.
