Trail Run Xtreme - Portage, IN
Trail Run Xtreme takes place on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Outback Trail near Imagination Glen East and the Iron Horse Heritage Trail in Portage, IN. The event offers two distances:
- 12K Trail Race
- 3K Kids Race open to ages 4 to 14
The course is primarily single-track and about 95% shaded and wooded, with a start that routes around soccer fields to spread runners out. Course features listed by the organizer include roots, hills, logs, mud puddles, twists and turns, and possible water crossings. The route will be marked with flags, signs, tape, and volunteers.
Pre-race bug spray will be provided. Participants receive an official 2026 race shirt when sizes are available and a post-race meal with fruit and snacks. Age group and special category awards are presented for top finishers, including overall male and female, masters, Clydesdale and Athena categories, and first male and female finishers representing each branch of the military. The event is part of the Calumet Striders Gold Cup Series.
A portion of proceeds benefits the Outback Trail Commission, a nonprofit that maintains and marks the trails and provides water stops and course marshals. Strollers are not allowed on course; leashed dogs are allowed in the staging and spectator areas but not on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
