Event overview
The Uwharrie Mountain Run is the 35th annual trail running event held on February 7, 2026, in the Uwharrie National Forest near Ophir, NC (Jumping Off Rock Trailhead, Flint Hill Road, Ophir, NC 27371). The races take place on single-track trails in winter conditions and are described as hilly and chilly with natural trail features such as rocks, roots, and creeks. The 2026 event is listed as sold out.

Services, awards and permits
All participants receive a long sleeve race t-shirt. The event provides complimentary parking and shuttle service, well-stocked aid stations, and food and refreshments at the finish. Hand-crafted pottery awards made by a local Seagrove potter are given to finishers; the top three male and female finishers in each race receive commemorative pottery and the overall top male and female receive Altra shoe certificates. The race is conducted on U.S. Forest Service land under a Special Use Permit. Volunteers are offered priority entry to the following year’s race.
