Event overview
The Uwharrie Mountain Run is the 35th annual trail running event in the Uwharrie National Forest near Ophir, North Carolina. It offers winter, single-track trail races at the following distances:
- 40 miles
- 20 miles
- 8 miles

Logistics, entry and awards
Registration for the 2026 event opens November 1, 2025. Entry fees listed are $100 for the 40-mile, $80 for the 20-mile, and $60 for the 8-mile. The event provides a long sleeve race t-shirt for participants, complimentary parking and shuttles, well-stocked aid stations, and food and refreshments at the finish area. All finishers receive hand-crafted pottery awards made by a local Seagrove potter; the top three male and female finishers in each race receive commemorative pottery and the top overall male and female finishers receive shoe vouchers from a sponsor. Volunteers are offered priority entry into the following year’s race. The event is authorized under a Special Use Permit for the Uwharrie National Forest.
