Uwharrie Mountain Run : event description
The 35th annual Uwharrie Mountain Run takes place on February 7, 2026, at the Jumping Off Rock Trailhead in Ophir, North Carolina, within the Uwharrie National Forest. The event consists of winter, single-track trail races over multiple distances on terrain that includes rocks, roots, and creek crossings. The course environment and finished pottery awards reflect local trail and craft traditions.

- 20 miles
- 8 miles
All participants receive a long sleeve race t-shirt. The event provides complimentary parking and shuttle service, well stocked aid stations along the course, and food and refreshments at the finish area. Awards are produced locally as pottery pieces; all finishers receive pottery awards, and handmade commemorative pottery is given to the top three male and female finishers in each race. Top overall male and female finishers also receive Altra shoe certificates. Awards are presented as runners finish.
The event is conducted on Uwharrie National Forest under a Special Use Permit. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service nondiscrimination policy applies to programs conducted on federal land. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
