About the race
The Uwharrie Brewing Firehouse Walk/Run takes place on October 3, 2026 at Uwharrie Brewing in Albemarle, North Carolina. The event honors the historic firehouse, supports the Albemarle Fire Department, and helps kick off Fire Prevention Week with a focus on lithium-ion battery charging safety.
Distances and options:
- 5K Run/Walk - professionally timed, open to runners and walkers.
- Firefighter Challenge 5K - active firefighters compete in turnout gear; chip timed with cash prizes.
- Virtual 5K - complete the distance remotely; race shirt mailed to virtual participants.
- 1 mile Run/Walk - non-timed, open to all ages.
Awards include handcrafted trophies for the top three male and female overall finishers and custom medals for age group winners. Age groups start at 14 and under and continue in decade ranges up to 70 and over.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Uwharrie Brewing and on race day. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers, is held rain or shine, and has a no refund policy.
Registration perks and on-site offerings noted for participants include race shirts for those registered by October 1, complimentary beer for participants 21 and older with nonalcoholic options available, free shaved ice, games, face painting, coloring books, fire safety demonstrations, and a community celebration at Uwharrie Brewing.
