Uwharrie Brewing Firehouse 5K & 1 Mile Run/Walk
This community running event takes place on October 3, 2026 at Uwharrie Brewing in Albemarle, North Carolina. The event honors the historic firehouse, supports the Albemarle Fire Department, and serves as a kickoff for Fire Prevention Week. It includes in-person and virtual options and welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers.
Distances offered include:
- 5K Run/Walk (professionally timed, T-shirt option)
- 1 Mile Run/Walk (non-timed)
- Virtual 5K (race shirt mailed to participants)
Registration perks include a race T-shirt for participants who register by October 1, 2026. Participants age 21 and over receive a complimentary Uwharrie Brewing beer after the event; nonalcoholic beverages are available for those under 21 or who prefer them.
The finish area features a community celebration with free ice cream, games and family activities, face painting, coloring books, and fire safety demonstrations by the Albemarle Fire Department. Awards include custom engraved mugs for the top three male and female overall finishers and custom medals for age group winners. Age groups cover ranges from 14 and under up through 70 and older.
Packet pickup is available at Uwharrie Brewing on the Friday before the event from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with additional pickup on race day. The event is held rain or shine and there are no refunds. Proceeds from the 5K support local fire prevention initiatives, free smoke detector programs, fire extinguisher distribution, and the Uwharrie Brewing Running Club, while proceeds from the 1 Mile support H4G.
