Uwharrie Brewing Firehouse 5K & 1-Mile Run/Walk
The event takes place on October 3, 2026, at Uwharrie Brewing, 121 N. 3rd Street, Albemarle, NC. This is the second annual Firehouse Walk/Run, organized to honor the historic firehouse, celebrate Uwharrie Brewing Firehouse Red, support the Albemarle Fire Department, and mark the start of Fire Prevention Week (October 4–10, 2026). The 2026 Fire Prevention Week theme is "Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower."

- Virtual 5K
The 5K is professionally timed and awards custom engraved mugs to the top three male and female overall finishers and custom-designed medals for age group winners. Age groups run from 14 & under through 70+. The 1-mile event is non-timed, open to all ages, and offers awards for top finishers. The virtual 5K allows participants to complete the distance remotely; race shirts for virtual participants will be mailed.
Registration perks include a race T-shirt for participants who register by October 1, 2026. Participants 21 and older receive a complimentary Uwharrie Brewing beer after the event; non-alcoholic beverages are available. Packet pickup is available the day before at Uwharrie Brewing and on race day. The finish area includes shaved ice, games and family activities, face painting, coloring books, fire safety demonstrations, and a community celebration. The event is held rain or shine and has a no refunds policy. Proceeds support local fire prevention initiatives, smoke detector programs, fire extinguisher distribution, and running club support.
