Locust #Elfie 5K
The Locust Elfie 5K is a seasonal event held in the Locust Town Center and surrounding neighborhoods. The course is characterized as a fast and flat-ish route. Participants take part in a 3.1 mile run or walk that passes through residential areas and local business districts. To ensure safety, the course is marked with orange cones and monitored by personnel, with lead cyclists guiding the way for the front runners.

This event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds supporting local youth art organizations. Monetary prizes are also awarded to schools or youth groups that secure the highest number of participants. The first 100 people to register receive a pair of themed socks. Participants are encouraged to wear holiday-themed attire, and prizes are categorized for the best-dressed individuals.
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall. Additionally, age group recognition is available for participants ranging from 10 and under up to 65 plus. Parking is available in lots located behind the main buildings in the Town Center to keep the race course clear for those on foot. Packet pickup is organized on the day prior to the race at the West Stanly Senior Center and on the day of the event at the starting area.
