Locust Elfie 5K Run/Walk
The Locust Elfie 5K Run/Walk is a community five-kilometer event held in December in Locust, North Carolina. The event base is in the Locust Town Center at 175 Ray Kennedy Dr, Locust, NC 28097.
Packet pick up is available the day before at the West Stanly Senior Center in the Locust Town Center and on race day. Organizers note an early pickup option to reduce congestion on race day.
The course is described as fast and "flat-ish" and runs through the Locust Town Center and surrounding neighborhood. The route will be marked, a lead cyclist will guide the field, and course communication personnel will be on hand.
The event encourages festive attire and offers prizes for best dressed Elfie. The first 100 registrants receive a pair of Christmas or Elfie socks. Early-bird registration pricing of $20.00 was offered through March 23 as noted in event materials.
Awards include overall prizes for the top three male and top three female finishers, plus age-group awards for both male and female categories in the following groups: 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65 and over.
Parking is available behind the main buildings in the Town Center; streets along the course will be kept clear and marked with orange cones where needed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
