Uwharrie 100 Mile Trail Run
The Uwharrie 100 Mile and 100K Trail Run takes place in the Uwharrie National Forest near Troy, North Carolina. The course is a 20.5 mile figure 8 loop on technical singletrack with roots and rocks beneath a forest canopy. Runners in the 100 mile event complete five loops and 100K entrants complete three loops.
Event entry is limited to 150 runners across both distances. The race enforces a 36 hour overall cutoff for both events because of the course technicality. Entry rules require 100 mile entrants to have previously finished a 50 mile race within the organizer’s established time limit; the Uwharrie 40 mile Mountain Run and the Mount Mitchell Challenge are accepted exceptions as qualifying races.
Sizing and registration notes include a shirt-size guarantee for runners registered by September 15. Refunds of 50% are available until May 1, 2026; no full refunds or bib transfers are offered. Deferment requests are considered case-by-case until September 1, 2026; a granted deferment allows a single rollover to the following year. In certain unforeseen life circumstances, 100% credit toward the 2027 race may be applied.
Athletes under 18 must have parental consent recorded on UltraSignup; no athlete under 16 may participate. The event is conducted under a Special Use Permit on Uwharrie National Forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
