Event overview

The Uwharrie 100 Mile and 100K Trail Run will be held October 17-18, 2026 in the Uwharrie National Forest near Troy, NC. The course uses a 20.5 mile figure-8 loop of technical trails with roots and rocks beneath a forest canopy. Runners in the 100 mile event complete five loops and runners in the 100K event complete three loops.

Distances

  • 100 mile - five laps of the 20.5 mile loop
  • 100K - three laps of the 20.5 mile loop

Entry limits and requirements

Total registration is limited to 150 runners across both races. 100 mile entrants must have previously completed a 50 mile event within the race's established time limit; the Uwharrie 40 mile Mountain Run and the Mount Mitchell Challenge are accepted exceptions. Both races have a 36 hour overall cutoff due to the technical nature of the course.

Registration, refunds and deferments

Registration opens January 1, 2026. Runners who register by September 15 are guaranteed a shirt size; sizes for later registrants are not guaranteed. Fifty percent refunds are available until May 1, 2025; no full refunds or bib transfers are offered. Deferment requests are considered until September 1, 2026 and, if granted, allow a single roll-over to the following year. Certain unforeseen life circumstances may receive 100% credit toward the 2027 race.

Age and gender policies

Athletes under 18 must have parental consent provided on the event registration portal. No athlete under 16 on the date of the event may participate. The event accepts each athlete’s declared gender; any challenge to a declared gender will be handled after the event and assessed privately.
