Utah SCADaddle 5K Race and Walk
The Utah SCADaddle 5K is an annual event held at East Riverfront Park in South Jordan. This event supports medical research for Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD), a condition that is a leading cause of heart attacks in women under 50 and can also affect men. The gathering serves to raise funds and awareness for identifying the causes and treatment options for this condition.
Participants follow a specific out-and-back course:
- 5K
The route begins at the East Riverfront Park Pavilion and follows the Jordan River Parkway for 1.55 miles. A water station marks the turnaround point, where participants then return along the same path to finish at the pavilion. The course is located in a park setting that includes various amenities and a food truck available during the event.
The event features chip timing for all participants. Runners and walkers receive a disposable timing tag attached to their race bibs. To ensure accurate results, the bib must be worn on the front of the clothing and should not be covered or placed in pockets. Electronic devices such as smartwatches or smartphones should not be adjusted while crossing the finish line to avoid interference with the timing frequency.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Recognition is also given to the top male and female finishers across several age categories, including 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+. The event takes place regardless of weather conditions, and participants are credited for finishing regardless of their pace. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
