Juniper Canyon Half Marathon
The Juniper Canyon Half Marathon is a trail race held May 1, 2027 in Herriman, Utah, organized by Happy Trails Running and starting and finishing at Butterfield Park. The distance is 13.1 miles with a total elevation gain of +1,681 ft. The course runs through canyons, ridgelines, and foothills with views of the Wasatch Valley and Mountains.
Terrain is primarily single track (93%) with 7% paved sections. Course segments are described as: Start to Secret Canyon Aid 3.9 miles (+784/-249 ft); Canyon Aid to Canyon Aid 5.3 miles (+668/-668 ft); Secret Canyon Aid to Finish 3.9 miles (+249/-784 ft). Runners are advised to carry a water bottle or pack because aid stations can be up to 5.9 miles apart. Aid station supplies include Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and small snacks.
The course is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals, and is reported to be easy to follow after the first quarter mile. There is no cutoff time. Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at the Sandy Salt Lake Running Store and also on race day. Registration tiers listed are Early $60, Regular $70, and Late $80, with registration closing April 30. The half marathon field is capped at 200 runners.
Participants receive a race shirt and locally made finisher and age medals. Post-race offerings include Great Harvest Bread seasonal breads, chocolate milk, orange juice, and bananas.
