Juniper Canyon Half Marathon - May 2, 2026
Juniper Canyon Half Marathon is a spring trail race in Herriman, Utah that covers 13.1 miles on a lollipop course starting and finishing at Butterfield Park. The route uses the Herriman City Trail System and includes Diamondback Trail, Eric's Trail, Mustang Trail, and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Runners pass canyons, ridgelines, and foothills with views of the Wasatch Valley and mountains.
The course is 93% single track and 7% paved, with a total elevation gain of +1,681 feet. Key segments include climbs and descents between aid stations; the longest gap between aid stations can be up to 5.9 miles, so carrying a water bottle or pack is recommended. Navigation is aided by pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals; after the first quarter mile the course is easy to follow.
Aid stations supply Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and snacks. Free race photos are taken on course and at the finish without watermarks. Awards include overall and age division prizes; first through third in overall receive locally made topographic plaques and other partner prizes. Parking is free. The half marathon is capped at 150 runners.
Registration tiers are Early $60 through 3/1, Regular $70, and Late $80 beginning 4/1. Registration closes May 1 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time. Packet pickup is available Friday 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Sandy Salt Lake Running Store and race day pickup begins 5:30 AM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
