Juniper Canyon Half Marathon
Juniper Canyon Half Marathon is a trail race in Herriman, Utah that runs through canyons, ridgelines, and foothills with views of the Wasatch Valley and Mountains. The course starts and finishes at Butterfield Park and follows city trails, single track, and sections of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail in a lollipop course layout.
The distance is 13.1 miles with a total elevation change of +1,681 feet. Course surface is about 93 percent single track and 7 percent paved. Split segments include a 3.9 mile section to the Secret Canyon aid, a 5.3 mile loop between canyon aid locations, and a final 3.9 mile return to the finish. Aid stations are stocked with Tailwind, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and occasional candy; some aid stations can be up to 5.9 miles apart, so organizers recommend carrying a water bottle or pack.
The event offers locally made finisher and age medals, a running shirt, live results, free race photos, and a post race breakfast provided by Great Harvest Bread. There is no cutoff time so participants may finish at their own pace. Parking is free. The half marathon field is limited to 200 runners. Volunteers receive a complimentary future race entry and access to finish area food. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
