Event details
The South Mountain Half Marathon is a road half marathon held in Lehi, Utah, that starts and finishes at Olympic Park next to the Jordan River. The course is an out-and-back following the southern section of the Jordan River Parkway. The event distance is 13.1 miles with a total elevation gain of +624 ft. The course is 100% paved trail. The event has a runner cap of 250.
Course and support
The route passes parks and Thanksgiving Point, then climbs into the foothills of South Mountain in Bluffdale. The course is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals; trail marshals are positioned at major intersections. Aid stations are placed along the course and typically offer Gatorade, water, Honey Stinger gels and waffles, fruit, and snacks. Several aid stations have restroom facilities and there are bathrooms at about mile 0.7 and at the finish. Spectator locations are listed for Jordan Narrows Park (mile 4.6 and 8.6) and Parry Farms Park (mile 6.55). There is no cutoff time for finishing.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available the Friday before at the Salt Lake Running Store and on race day at the starting area. Registration has tiered pricing that changes by date and closes the night before the race. Parking at Olympic Park is free but limited; carpooling or drop-off is recommended.
