Event
The South Mountain Half Marathon takes place on May 2, 2026, in Lehi, Utah, with the start and finish at Olympic Park (2700 W Parkside Dr). The event is limited to 250 runners. Registration follows early, normal, and late windows; late registration opens April 3 and closes May 1 at 11:59 PM MT. Same-day registration is not available.
Course
The race is a 13.1-mile out-and-back run along the Jordan River Parkway, focusing on the southern section of the trail and passing parks and Thanksgiving Point before climbing to the foothills of South Mountain in Bluffdale. The course is 100% paved trail with a total elevation gain of +624 ft. The route includes a climb and rollers up to the turnaround point. The course is marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals at major intersections. There is no cutoff time.
Aid, support and logistics
There are multiple aid stations spaced along the course; supplies include Gatorade, water, Honey Stinger gels/waffles, fruit, and small snacks. Several aid stations and the finish area have bathrooms. Free race photos will be taken and hosted via bib recognition without a watermark. Packet pickup is available the day before at the Salt Lake Running Store in Sandy, with race-day pickup at the start area. Parking is free but limited; carpooling or drop-off is recommended.
Extras and awards
Runners receive a race shirt and a locally made finisher medal. Post-race food includes Great Harvest Bread items and beverages. Overall male and female awards are given for 1st to 3rd, and age-division medals are awarded in standard age groups. Volunteers receive a credit or free entry for a future Happy Trails race; this benefit expires after one year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
