"Using our Voices" Mental Health Run : Patchogue-Medford

The fourth annual "Using our Voices" Mental Health Run Series is a student led event on May 17, 2026 at Patchogue-Medford High School in Medford, NY. The series now includes four school districts: Patchogue-Medford, North Babylon, Connetquot, and New Hyde Park. The event is planned and run entirely by students, who manage activities from planning through race day.

Funds raised support students across Long Island by providing counseling opportunities and by supporting mental health organizations that work with youth. The series aims to share messages about reducing stress and anxiety, building relationships, and supporting mental and physical health through movement. The initiative also supports student civic engagement and the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness.

Multiple event formats are offered:

  • 5k competitive event
  • Kid run for participants age 10 and under
  • 1 mile run walk non competitive
  • 1 mile untimed unified fun run for participants with and without disabilities

A course map is provided and custom medals are awarded to top overall finishers and to age group winners across five year age bands from 10 and under to 80 plus. Packet pickup is on site race morning. The series includes raffles and sponsor support from community organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
