Event Overview
Ultra X Scotland is a trail running event held in the Scottish Highlands. The races take place over a single weekend and feature courses that navigate the trails around Loch Ness. The event offers several distance options to accommodate different levels of participation, including both single-stage and multi-stage formats.
Course and Distances
The event includes six distinct race options:
- 110 km single stage
- 110 km held over two stages
- 60 km
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 12 km
The 110 km and 60 km events begin at Queens Park Stadium in Inverness. The 50 km race starts in Fort Augustus, while the 25 km begins in Foyers and the 12 km starts in Whitefield. The routes are fully marked, and aid stations stocked with water and snacks are positioned approximately every 10 km along the courses.
Logistics and Support
Participants in the 110 km events have camping included in their entry fee for Saturday night. Those entered in the 60 km and 50 km categories have the option to purchase a camp pass. Medical support is provided throughout the event, and GPS trackers are used for timing and safety. Shuttle buses are available to transport runners to certain start lines or back to Inverness from the finish.
Specific cut-off times are enforced for all distances to ensure participant safety. For the 50 km and 60 km races, the time limit is generally 2 to 2.5 hours per 10 km.
