Inverness Half Marathon
The Inverness Half Marathon and accompanying 5K take place in March in the Highland capital of Inverness. The half marathon follows a scenic route along the banks of the River Ness and passes many of the city’s landmarks. The course includes four water stations at approximately 3, 6, 9 and 11.5 miles and one High5 gel station. Water is served in paper cups to reduce single use plastic.
Entry includes timed results, a digital finisher’s certificate, and optional finisher items such as a technical t-shirt, medal and event giveaway. Results are published provisionally on the day and normally confirmed 3–5 working days after the event. There is a baggage drop at the Sports Centre and event packs are posted to UK entrants, with overseas entrants able to collect packs in person.
Participants must be aged 17 or over on the day. The event sets a cut-off time for the half marathon at 3 hours 30 minutes; some road sections begin to reopen roughly two hours after the start and marshals guide participants onto pavements where needed. There is no wheelchair category for the half marathon, but wheelchair participants are welcome in the 5K on a more appropriate route. A limited number of elite complimentary entries are available for athletes who meet published performance standards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
