Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running
The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running is an annual sporting event held in the Scottish Highlands. The primary route takes participants alongside the shores of Loch Ness, leading toward the finish line in Inverness. The event offers multiple distances and categories for different age groups:
- Marathon
- River Ness 10K & Corporate Challenge
- River Ness 5K
- Wee Nessie (designed for children)
Participants in the Marathon and 10K receive electronic timing. All runners are provided with a commemorative finisher's medal, a technical t-shirt, a goody bag, and a downloadable finisher's certificate. Following the race, complimentary food is served to participants. For those running the full marathon, transport is provided to the start line.
The event weekend includes a sports expo and a festival at the finish area. Sustainability initiatives are integrated into the registration process, where participants can choose to sponsor a tree through a Highland rewilding charity instead of receiving a finisher's t-shirt. While fundraising is not mandatory for general entries, the event partners with several official charities to support various causes.
Accommodation is available in Inverness and the surrounding Loch Ness area, and the city is accessible via an international airport and public transport networks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
