By Way of The Glen (Glasgow to Inverness) is a long-distance foot race held 02 July 2026 to 05 July 2026. The advertised route covers 170 miles between Milngavie and Inverness. The event has a total entry capacity of 20 places. A presentation and prize giving takes place on the Sunday morning at the Inverness sports centre.

Route and logistics

The route follows two long-distance trails: the West Highland Way and the Great Glen Way. It includes a 94-mile section on the West Highland Way and a 72-mile section on the Great Glen Way, with a total ascent of around 24000 ft. The route is marked with waymarks and arrow signs. Checkpoints are positioned along the route; some checkpoints allow meeting support crews, while others act as drop-bag points serviced by marshals. Runners are tracked during the event. The meeting point at the start is Milngavie Train Station, Fulton Road, Milngavie G62 8PG.

Entry, fees and rules

Entries require vetting of race history. The event is open only to individuals who have previously completed races of 70 miles or more. Refund and deferral rules are published: a 30-day cooling-off period applies with a £15 administration fee; after 30 days a 50% refund may be offered up to 12 weeks before the event; no refunds within 12 weeks of the event.
