By Way of The Glen (Glasgow to Inverness) 2026
By Way of The Glen is a point to point foot race taking place 2 July 2026 to 5 July 2026 between Milngavie and Inverness. The route follows two long distance trails and has a reported total ascent of around 24000 ft. The start location is Milngavie Train Station, Fulton Road, Milngavie.
The route distances are:
- 170 miles total.
- West Highland Way: 94 miles.
- Great Glen Way: 72 miles.
The West Highland Way section must be completed within 28 hours before a short road link leads onto the Great Glen Way. The route is fully waymarked with signs. There are checkpoints along the route where runners can be met by their support team and other checkpoints that serve as drop bag points managed by marshals. Entrants will be tracked during the event. The event requires that entrants have at least one person able to run to assist if help is needed between checkpoints.
Entry is limited to individuals who have completed races of 70 miles or more; runners' race history will be vetted before full entry is confirmed. Presentation and prize giving takes place on Sunday morning at the Inverness Sports Centre.
Entry details include a service fee of 4 percent with a minimum charge of 50p. Prices listed for the event are £268 discounted and £270 standard until 20 May 2026.
