About the race
By Way of the Glen is a challenging 170-mile foot race from Glasgow to Inverness, following Scotland’s iconic West Highland Way and Great Glen Way. The course features a total ascent of approximately 24,000 feet, starting at Milngavie Train Station and covering 94 miles on the West Highland Way before linking to the 72-mile Great Glen Way at Neptune Staircase. The route is fully marked and includes checkpoints where runners can meet support teams or access drop bags.
Participants must have prior ultra-distance experience, and the race emphasizes self-sufficiency and safety with mandatory kit and runner tracking. The event concludes with a prize-giving ceremony in Inverness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
