Ultra Tour of Edinburgh
The Ultra Tour of Edinburgh is a one day ultramarathon in and around the city of Edinburgh on 17 October 2027. The course covers 55 km (34 miles) and is a mass participation run that starts on the Royal Mile and passes notable city features including Calton Hill, the Water of Leith and Salisbury Crags.
The route is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows across the entire course and includes three pit stops offering water, juice, snacks, toilets and on-site medical support. The event is fully supported with a sweeper service to move participants who withdraw to the finish, and a professional medical team provided by Trail Med including paramedics, doctors and a private ambulance. The organiser states they are independently audited for safety, risk management and participant care.
Tracker collection takes place the day before the event in Edinburgh City Centre and participants must collect their satellite tracker and bring their running backpack so the tracker can be attached. There is a mandatory kit requirement; examples include a small rucksack or vest to carry kit, runner number, satellite tracker, running shoes, minimum 2 litres of hydration, at least 400 kcal of food, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped or welded seams, bivvy bag, basic first aid items, whistle, charged mobile phone, full leg cover and an additional upper body thermal layer. A GPS tracker is supplied and a reusable cup is required.
Participants must be over 18 on the day of registration. Entries may be transferred up to one month before registration and an optional third party Refund Protect is available. The event promotes a non competitive ethos with no podium places and results presented in alphabetical order. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
