Event Overview
The Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104-mile ultramarathon with an elevation gain of 4,611 meters. It takes place along the Southern Upland Way, one of Scotland's Great Trails. The event is limited to 250 participants and has an overall cut-off time of 38 hours. The entry fee is £209.
Route Details
The course starts at St John's Town of Dalry Town Hall and finishes at the Focus Community Centre in Galashiels. It passes several notable locations, including the ascent of Benbrake, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701m), Minch Moor, Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren, and St Mary’s Loch. The route follows the Southern Upland Way, a waymarked trail. It is a UTMB and ITRA qualifying event.
Race Logistics
Participants must be at least 20 years old and have previously completed both a marathon and a 50-mile ultramarathon under race conditions. Mandatory gear includes a waterproof jacket, map, compass, headtorch, emergency rations, and a GPS tracker provided by the organizer. A pacer is permitted from the halfway point (Checkpoint 7). The event offers live online tracking.
Checkpoints and Support
There are ten checkpoints along the route, providing food, drinks, and medical support. Some are water-only stations. Support crews are not permitted at certain checkpoints due to access or safety constraints. All finishers receive a finisher's buckle: gold for top 100, silver for places 101-200, and bronze for 201+.
