Event overview

Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104-mile trail ultramarathon on Saturday 6 June 2026. The route covers 104 miles with 4611m of elevation, is limited to 250 places and has a 38-hour overall cut-off. The race starts in St John’s Town of Dalry and finishes in Galashiels, following the Southern Upland Way. The route is way-marked and carries UTMB performance index and ITRA mountain points. Live online GPS tracking is provided by GB Race Tracker. Finishers within the race cut-off receive a commemorative buckle: Gold for the top 100, Silver for places 101–200 and Bronze for 201+; bespoke trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each gender category.

Route and checkpoints

The course follows the Southern Upland Way and includes ascents such as Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701m) and Minch Moor, and passes Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. Checkpoints are located at multiple points along the route; some are water-only (CP2, CP6 and CP9). All participants must check in at every checkpoint and organisers enforce strict cut-offs for safety. Dropbags are permitted at the finish and at Checkpoints 7 and 8; specific packing limits and labelling requirements apply.

Entry, kit and support

Entry requires participants to be at least 20 years old and to have completed a marathon previously. Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and is subject to random checks. Poor weather kit (waterproof pants, gloves and warm hat) is now mandatory. A single pacer on foot is permitted from the halfway point (with restrictions and self-sufficiency requirements). Optional coach return transport to the start is offered for a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
