Ultra Scotland 100 : event details

Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104-mile trail ultramarathon on the Southern Upland Way. The course covers about 104 miles with 4,611 m of elevation and is limited to 250 places. The race starts in St John’s Town of Dalry and finishes in Galashiels. The overall cut-off for the event is 38 hours. The route is way-marked as one of Scotland’s Great Trails and carries UTMB performance index and ITRA mountain points. The entry fee is £209.

Route, checkpoints and requirements

The route passes features such as Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701 m), Minch Moor, Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. There are multiple checkpoints along the route; some checkpoints are water-only (CP2, CP6 and CP9). Support crews are restricted at several checkpoints and are only permitted from Checkpoint 3 onwards subject to specific rules. A single pacer is allowed from Checkpoint 7 and must be on foot and self-sufficient.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and missing items can lead to disqualification. Required items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat with sealed seams, compass, headtorch with backup light, emergency thermal bag, food, a 1 litre water container and the GPS tracker supplied by the organiser.
