Ultra Scotland 100

The Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104 mile trail ultramarathon following the Southern Upland Way from St John’s Town of Dalry to Galashiels. The course records approximately 4611 m of elevation and passes notable features such as Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701 m), Minch Moor, Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. The route holds a UTMB performance index and awards ITRA mountain points. Live online tracking is provided via GB Race Tracker.

Entry details include 250 places, a 38 hour overall cut off and an entry fee of £209. Entrants must be at least 20 years old, have completed a marathon and an organised ultramarathon of at least 50 miles prior to the event. The event uses multiple staffed checkpoints; most offer food and hot drinks while some are water only. Medical cover or a first aider is available at checkpoints and random kit checks are conducted.

Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and includes items such as a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat and trousers, compass, charged mobile phone, GPS tracker, headtorch plus backup light, emergency rations and an emergency thermal bag. Pacers may join from the halfway checkpoint and support crew access is restricted at several checkpoints.
