Ultra Scotland 100
Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104 mile trail ultramarathon with 4611 m of elevation that follows the Southern Upland Way from St Johns Town of Dalry to the finish in Galashiels. The route includes notable sections such as the ascent of Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701 m) and Minch Moor, and passes Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. The trail is way marked as one of Scotland’s Great Trails and carries UTMB performance index and ITRA mountain points. The field is limited to 250 places and the overall cut off for the event is 38 hours. An online GPS tracking system provided by GB Race Tracker gives live tracking and an SOS facility.
Mandatory kit must be carried at all times and will be subject to random checks; items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat and trousers, compass, headtorch and backup light source, emergency rations and a fully charged mobile phone, plus the event GPS tracker. Checkpoints provide refreshments and medical cover; certain checkpoints are water only. Supporters and support crews are restricted from several checkpoint locations and must follow the event guidance. Pacers are permitted from Checkpoint 7 with specific kit and conduct requirements. Dropbags are available for the finish and at Checkpoints 7 and 8. Parking and tent camping are available at Earlstoun Estate with site rules in place. Finishers within the cut off receive a unique buckle with Gold, Silver or Bronze awarded by finishing position. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
