Event overview
Ultra Scotland 100 is a 104-mile trail ultramarathon on Saturday 6 June 2026. The course follows the Southern Upland Way from St John’s Town of Dalry to Galashiels, with total ascent of 4611 m. The event has 250 places, an entry fee of £209 and an overall cut-off of 38 hours. Entry requires participants to be at least 20 years old and to have completed a marathon distance previously.
Route, checkpoints and logistics
The route includes ascents of Benbrack, Gateshaw Rig, Lowther Hill (701 m) and Minch Moor, and passes Daer Reservoir, Three Brethren and St Mary’s Loch. The trail is way-marked as one of Scotland’s Great Trails and carries UTMB performance index and ITRA mountain points. Checkpoints provide refreshments and hot food at indoor locations, with several checkpoints designated as water-only. A medic, first responder or first aider will be available at each checkpoint. Participants must attend all checkpoints and have details recorded.
Dropbags are permitted for the finish and at two midrace checkpoints and must be labelled and handed in at race registration. A single pacer on foot is allowed from the halfway point under specific rules; support crew access is restricted at several checkpoints and a single vehicle per runner is requested. Optional coach transport back to the start is available for a fee and must be pre-booked.
Mandatory kit and tracking
A GPS tracker and a specified set of mandatory kit must be carried at all times. Required items include a hardcopy Southern Upland Way map, waterproof coat and trousers, compass, base layer, water capacity (min 1 litre), charged mobile phone, emergency thermal bag, headtorch with backup light, whistle and emergency rations (min 500 calories). Random kit checks will take place. Live online tracking is provided via GB Race Tracker. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
