Hardrock Duathlon
The Hardrock Duathlon takes place on 19 September 2026 at Town Wood Carpark, Dalbeattie Forest, Dumfries and Galloway. The event offers two concurrent race formats on forest trails and mountain bike routes with a transition area and an event village.
Race distances are:
- Main: run 9 miles on trails; bike 18 miles on red grade loop.
- Short: run 4 miles; bike 9 miles on blue grade trails and tracks.
The event is chip timed with a split between the run and bike sections. Entrants must be 16 years or older. Solo and team prizes are awarded across age categories, including under 21, senior 16 to 39, veteran 40 plus, grand veteran 50 plus, super veteran 60 plus, and an e-bike category. Team categories mirror the solo age groups.
E-bikes must comply with UK EAPC law with a maximum power of 250 watts and a maximum speed of 15.5 mph. Riders must wear helmets and observe safe riding practices. Entry fees vary from £30 to £45 per individual and from £60 to £90 per team depending on registration period. Entries on the day are not accepted.
Event facilities include catering, a licensed bar, toilets and showers, first aid, and car parking with a small charge that supports a local youth group. Overnight campervan parking is available at the Richorn Trailhead carpark for a fee payable to Forestry Land Scotland. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
