Hardrock Duathlon, Dalbeattie Forest
The Hardrock Duathlon takes place on 19 September 2026 at Dalbeattie Forest (Town Wood Carpark), Dumfries and Galloway. The event offers two course options that combine an off-road run with a mountain bike leg and is open to entrants aged 16 or over.
Course options:
- Main event: 9 miles trail run then 18 miles mountain bike.
- Short event: 4 miles run then 9 miles mountain bike.
The main bike leg follows sections of red grade trails and comprises two laps of the Barnbarroch loop. The short bike leg uses easier blue grade trails and forest tracks. The event is chip timed with a split between the run and bike sections.
Categories are provided for solo and team entries, including overall male and female winners, age groups (Under 21, Senior, Veteran, Grand Veteran, Super Veteran) and an ebike class. E-bikes must comply with UK EAPC law, have a maximum power of 250 watts and a maximum speed of 15.5 mph. Riders must wear helmets and follow safe riding practices.
The event village includes paid parking that supports a local youth group, catering, a licensed bar, toilets, showers and a first aid tent. Overnight campervan parking is available at Richorn Trailhead carpark for a fee payable to Forestry Land Scotland. The event is organised by Dalbeattie Community Initiative.
