Hardrock Duathlon - Dalbeattie Forest
The Hardrock Duathlon takes place in Dalbeattie Forest, Town Wood Carpark, Dumfries and Galloway. The event offers two race options that combine off-road running and mountain biking on marked forest trails and grade-specific bike routes. Entrants must be 16 or older.
The distances are:
- Main: 9 mile off-road run then 18 mile mountain bike
- Short: 4 mile run then 9 mile mountain bike
The main run follows trails and forest tracks back to the transition area. The main bike leg uses sections of red grade trails and consists of two laps of the Barnbarroch loop. The short bike route uses easier blue grade trails and forest tracks. The event is chip timed with a split between run and bike sections. All finishers receive a medal and times are recorded only if the timing chip is returned; failure to return a chip may incur a charge.
Prize categories are awarded in solo and team divisions and include Overall, Under 21, Senior, Veteran, Grand Veteran, Super Veteran and an Ebike class, with corresponding age ranges noted for each category. Ebikes must comply with UK EAPC law, maximum power 250 watts and maximum speed 15.5 mph. Event facilities include an event village, paid car parking with proceeds to a youth group, catering, a licensed bar, WCs, showers, first aid and an overnight campervan option at the trailhead carpark for a Forestry Land Scotland fee. The event is organised by volunteers from Dalbeattie Community Initiative. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
