Hardrock Duathlon - Dalbeattie Forest
The Hardrock Duathlon is a run then bike event held at Dalbeattie Forest, Town Wood Carpark, Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway. The organisers are the Dalbeattie Community Initiative. Entrants must be 16 years or older.
Course options:
- Main: 9 mile trail run then 18 mile mountain bike on red grade trails.
- Short: 4 mile run then 9 mile mountain bike on blue grade trails.
The main bike leg follows two laps of the Barnbarroch loop. The short bike route uses easier blue grade trails and forest tracks. The event is chip timed with a split recorded between the run and bike sections. Finishers receive a medal.
Prize categories are offered for solo and team entrants across age groups from under 21 through to super veteran, and there are categories for e bikes. E bikes must comply with UK EAPC law with a maximum power of 250 watts and a maximum speed of 15.5 mph.
An event village at the trailhead includes catering, a licensed bar, toilets and showers, first aid, and a paid car park that supports a local youth group. Overnight campervan parking is available at the trailhead carpark for a fee payable to Forestry Land Scotland. Entry fees increase in stages up to £45 and team entries consist of one runner and one biker. Routes and formats are subject to change in unforeseen circumstances.
Entries open 17 April 2026 and close 13 September 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
