Hardrock Duathlon - Dalbeattie Forest, 19 September 2026
The Hardrock Duathlon takes place at Dalbeattie Forest near Town Wood Carpark in Dumfries and Galloway. There are two event options that combine trail running and mountain biking.
- Main: 9 mile trail run then 18 mile mountain bike section.
- Short: 4 mile run then 9 mile mountain bike section.
The main bike leg follows sections of red grade trails and consists of two laps of the Barnbarroch loop. The short bike route uses easier blue grade trails and forest tracks. The event is chip timed with a split between the run and bike, and all finishers receive a medal. Competitors must be 16 or older. Entries on the day are not accepted.
Prizes are awarded in solo and team categories across age groups including Under 21, Senior (16/21-39), Veteran (40 plus), Grand Veteran (50 plus), Super Veteran (60 plus), and E-bike classes. E-bikes must meet UK EAPC rules with a maximum power of 250 watts and a maximum speed of 15.5 mph. Riders must wear a helmet and follow safe riding practices. Finishers must return timing chips or no time will be recorded and a charge of £25 may apply for non-return.
Event facilities include an event village with catering, a licensed bar at the Boar Inn, toilets and showers, first aid, and paid car parking with proceeds to a youth group. Overnight campervan parking at the trailhead is available for a fee payable to Forestry Land Scotland. The event is organised by volunteers from Dalbeattie Community Initiative.
