Heart of Granite
Heart of Granite is a challenging 20-mile (32km) circular race held in the Galloway Mountains, starting and finishing at Caldons Old Campsite in Glen Trool, Newton Stewart. The course features 1850m of ascent and passes notable landmarks such as Curleywee, Rig of Jarkness, the Murder Hole, and the summit of Merrick. Fully supported and marshalled by Galloway Mountain Rescue, the race includes checkpoints with food and water, and offers hearty soup and local beer at the finish.
Designed for experienced fell runners aged 18 and over, participants must carry mandatory safety kit due to potential winter conditions. All profits support Galloway Mountain Rescue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
