Merrick Hill Race
Merrick Hill Race is an 8-mile hill race in the Galloway forest region of southwest Scotland, set in the Awful Hand range on the western edge of the Galloway Hills. The route climbs about 2,900 feet to the Merrick summit (the highest mountain south of Ben Lomond at 2,765 ft) via the Fell of Eschoncan, Bennan Hill and Benyellary, returning along the same line (roughly 4 miles each way). Start/finish at Bruce’s Stone, Glentrool.
The event is run under Scottish Athletics and Scottish Hill Runners rules, with mandatory safety kit and checks; places are capped at 50. Online entry is £8 discounted, £10 standard. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
