Ultra In The Black Country 2027
The event on 21 March 2027 is the 10th edition of the Ultra In The Black Country. It starts and finishes at Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley, West Midlands; there is a £3.50 parking charge. The course is a 32 mile loop divided into four sections so it can be completed solo, as a pair, or as a team of four. Total places are limited to 100.
The route is 97% traffic free and mainly follows disused railway lines and canal towpaths with a small number of road crossings. From Baggeridge the course passes woodland and Fen's Pool towards Pensnett and Brockmoor, includes a mandatory head torch section through the 2.7 km Netherton Tunnel, and continues via the canal network and Coseley Tunnel (329 m). The route returns via Lower Penn and Wombourne and finishes through Baggeridge Woods. The course is fully waymarked and a GPX file is provided.
There are three check points that also serve as relay change-over points; each offers water, energy drink and assorted food. Runners receive a finisher's medal and a bottle of Teme Valley Brewery beer on completion. The minimum age is 18 years on race day. Entry fees listed by the organiser are: Solo £55 with an early bird rate of £30 for the first 20 entries, Pairs £65, and Team of 4 £90. Participants must finish within 9 hours.
