Event overview
Ultra In The Black Country takes place on 29 March 2026, with the start and finish at Baggeridge Country Park near Dudley, West Midlands. The event is organised by Pulse Events and has a limit of 100 places. There is a £3 parking charge at the venue. The full loop is 32 miles and is described as an ultra event, which is generally a 30+ mile running event.
Route and logistics
The route is a traffic-free urban loop for about 97% of its length, using disused railway lines, canal towpaths and woodland. It is broken into four sections and includes a mandatory head-torch section through the 2.7 km Netherton Tunnel and a 329 m Coseley Tunnel. The route will be fully waymarked and a GPX file will be supplied for GPS devices. There are three check points that also serve as team change-over points; each check point will offer water, energy drink and assorted food. The event base will provide refreshments to purchase at the Baggeridge Tea Room cafe.
Entries and requirements
Entries are available for solo runners, pairs (relay) or teams of four. Entry fees listed are Solo £55 with an early-bird rate of £30 for the first 20 sign-ups, Pairs £65, and Team of 4 £90. The minimum age is 18 years on race day and participants must finish within 9 hours. Finishers receive a medal and a bottle of Teme Valley Brewery beer.
